George Alzner, inventor of the Alzner arch support, was a skilled orthopedic shoe designer. After training as a therapist in 1936 and becoming an orthopedist and physiotherapist in 1942, he continued his studies in West Germany and earned a master’s degree in 1948 as an orthopedic foot specialist. Despite designing many shoes, he grew frustrated that they weren't achieving the therapeutic results he wanted. After working with patients for years, Dr. Alzner realized that shoes alone could not solve foot pain. George Alzner then dedicated two decades to developing the Alzner arch support, conducting research with thousands of individuals. He studied those with foot problems and those without. His conclusion: if feet can break down over time, they can also be rebuilt. So that was what he based his arch supports off of, building the feet back up. Today, the Alzner arch support continues to help millions worldwide.
